FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is Trailwinds Dispatch an EMR?
No — deliberately. Dispatch handles one job: getting the right nurse to the right door, fast, with proof. Clinical documentation stays in your EMR; Dispatch holds only what's needed to route and time a visit.
Does the system assign nurses automatically?
Never. The board shows live status, position, and timing so your triage nurse can decide well — but the decision is always theirs. Nothing recommends or pre-selects a nurse.
What happens when a nurse can't take a visit?
They decline with a reason — too far, with a patient, emergency — and the assignment lands back on the triage board instantly for reassignment. If a visit sits unaccepted, it escalates automatically at 5 and 10 minutes.
Is it HIPAA compliant?
HIPAA is baked in, not bolted on. PHI stays behind authenticated, role-checked sessions; every access is audit-logged; and the whole stack — including maps and routing — runs under business associate agreements. Our security page has the details, and we're glad to walk your privacy officer through them.
Are nurses tracked all the time?
Only when your policy says so — location sharing follows the schedule you set, and many agencies limit it to on-call hours. The app always shows the nurse that it's on, and position history is deleted on a schedule you control (60 days by default). Arrival at a visit is confirmed by the nurse, not assumed by the system.
What does my team need to run it?
A web browser for the triage, admin, and leadership dashboards, and an iPhone for each field nurse. There's nothing to install on the desk side.
We're not a hospice — is it still a fit?
If you send clinicians into the field on short notice — palliative care, home health, mobile urgent response — the same dispatch, escalation, and response-time machinery applies. Visit types and priorities are configurable to your service.
How long does it take to go live?
Most teams start with the free two-week trial on their real service area. Setup is measured in days, not months — users, roster, service area, and your escalation policy.
